March For Our Lives FAQS

GENERAL QUESTIONS:

What is the mission behind this rally?

  • March For Our Lives is created by, inspired by, and led by students across the country who will no longer risk their lives waiting for someone else to take action to stop the epidemic of school shootings that has become all too familiar. In the tragic wake of the seventeen lives brutally cut short, dozens injured and thousands impacted in Florida, politicians are telling us that now is not the time to talk about gun violence. March For Our Lives believes the time is now.

How is the San Francisco rally related to the national movement and national rallies happening around the country?

  • On Saturday, March 24th, the students, families and allies of March For Our Lives will take to the streets of Washington, DC, in tandem with hundreds of other communities around the country, including San Francisco, to demand that their lives and safety become a priority. The San Francisco #MarchForOurLives will ensure that our Bay Area local community can have our voices heard and mobilize together for action.

How have the students been involved?

  • Students started this movement and they have been the energy of it throughout. Students have been involved in selecting the speaker lineup, thinking about the calls to action that we want our audience to participate in, to promoting the event amongst their networks and bringing people to it day of. The Student Advisory Council’s and the San Francisco Youth Commission’s young leaders have been some of our biggest collaborators on this event with a lot more students serving as official spokespeople for our efforts.
